Where is Ross Errilly Friary located?

Ross Errilly Friary is located approximately two kilometres northwest of Headford town in County Galway, along the banks of the Black River.

How long do guided tours take?

Our standard guided heritage tours typically run for approximately 60 minutes, leaving ample time for questions and photos.

Is advance booking required?

We strongly recommend booking in advance to ensure guide availability, especially during peak visitor seasons and for private groups.

What should I wear for the visit?

Because the friary is an open-air stone monument with grassy terrain, sturdy walking shoes and weather-appropriate rainwear are recommended.

Is the site wheelchair accessible?

Portions of the central cloister and nave are reachable, but several interior rooms have uneven stone thresholds and narrow doorways.

Are children welcome on the tour?

Yes,children are welcome on our tours but must be kept under supervision at all times. Our tours are family friendly and captivating for visitors of all ages interested in medieval Irish stories and architecture.
